Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center: Bridgehampton, New York

Bridgehampton, New York

For more than 70 years, the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center has been a place where children and families on Long Island’s East End can find education, encouragement and support. What began as a safe place for children of migrant workers has grown into a community resource offering child care, after-school programs, tutoring, workforce training and family assistance. As the need for these services grew, the organization needed a larger, more functional building that could serve the community for years to come.

Designed by Chaleff & Rogers and built by RLW4 Builders, the new center was designed to incorporate Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) from the start. ACME supplied 6 1/2-inch Neopor SIP wall panels and 10 1/4-inch Neopor SIP roof panels, helping create a well-insulated building envelope while reducing the time and labor associated with conventional framing. The prefabricated panels combined structural support, insulation and sheathing into one building component, helping streamline construction of a facility designed to meet the community’s growing needs.

The new center provides more room for classrooms, tutoring, a computer lab, community gatherings and essential family services. With additional space, the organization can reach more children and give working families greater access to the programs they depend on. For ACME, it’s a meaningful example of how SIP construction can support community-focused projects, helping organizations invest in buildings that are efficient to operate and built to serve people for generations.

Why SIPs, Here

  • ✓ A tighter building envelope means less energy used to heat and cool it, winter and summer alike.
  • ✓ Panels arrive cut to spec and go up fast, so the home was closed in before the weather turned.
  • ✓ Less energy used over the life of the home means less carbon produced, for this family and the next one who lives here.
