How will choosing SIPs effect the overall cost of your building?

How much do SIPs cost?

Remember when comparing prices, the SIPs (walls, roofs and floors) replace the framing, insulation, the sheathing and saves on labor.

Will I save money building with SIPs?

It depends upon the standard you are building to and the time frame in which you measure your returns.

The Building Standard: If you are building a basic, code minimum standard house, SIPs will not be cheaper. Stick frame with fiberglass batts will build the biggest house for the least amount of money. Of course, that house will be less efficient, drafty, highly variable, not as strong, hold up less to extreme weather, cost more to operate, pollute more, and have worse air quality.  But for some, that is good enough.

Time Frame: Your building is a long-term commitment. Building with SIPs leads to monthly savings through lower utility bills.  A small amount of money invested in building better with SIPs, adds up over time up to create a handsome rate of return.  Over time, you will definitely save money building with SIPs.

If you demand better- then SIPs are the simplest and most cost-effective way to build the high performance building you deserve.

How much more will it cost to build with SIPs?

If you are building a high performance building, SIPs will cost less than any equivalent system. If you are looking to build at the cheapest up front cost to minimum building standards, SIPs will cost between 3%-7% more than a stick framed home. Some buildings are better suited to SIPs so be sure to review your plans with an ACME professional to determine what will work best.
